Which Section to attempt first??
The section in which you are confident enough to score with speed and accuracy. If you are weak in Maths  then don’t attempt Maths Section in last. Last minute pressure will not let you to do the calculation and hence this will led to suicidal attempt.
Strategy
First of all you need to attempt a mock in exactly similar circumstances as in real exam. It can be previous year paper or any mock test available in market.
Perquisite before attempting mock
  • Stop Watch or Alarm in mobile set at 110 minutes.
  • Only Single Sheet of Rough Paper
  • OMR Sheet
  • Black Ball Point pen
After checking your score in this mock you will be able to analyse your self in a better way.
How to Analyse ??
  • Note down for each question the topic from where it is and its difficulty level (easy/medium/hard).
  • Excellent Score (Speed, Time management & Preparation are on track)
  • Good Score with Good Accuracy (Preparation is on track but lacking in Speed & Time Management)
  • Good Score with Less Accuracy (Speed, Time Management is ok but lacking in preparation)
  • Less Score with Good Accuracy (Preparation is OK but lacking in Speed & Time Management)
  • Less Score with Less Accuracy ( Lacking in Preparation, Speed & Time Management)
*The Difficulty level should be according to you only and no one else.
*Now, since the 2015 Tier-1 level and pattern was almost similar to 2013 and 2014, it is safe to expect the same for CGL 2016 Tier-1 as well.
Therefore, previous year analysis should be restricted to these 2 papers only. If you don’t have the papers, you can download them from here.
This is a work requiring a maximum of 3 hours but will serve as the base for your whole preparation.
Score Classification
  • Excellent Score – 145+
  • Good Score – 135 – 145
  • Average Score – 120 – 135
  • Less Score – 100 – 120
  • Not Qualifying Score – Less than 100
Those scoring 145+ in mocks are perfectly on track to crack the SSC CGL Tier 1 with flying colors. Only you need to take as much mock as you can and analyze them to minimize the silly mistakes.
Aspirants scoring 135-145 need to check their accuracy & speed. If your attempts are around 180-200 but due to incorrect responses you score more negatives then you need to improve your accuracy. In second case if your attempts are around 145-155 & you were unable to see the remaining questions then your speed isn’t up to the mark but if you left these questions due to uncertainty of the answers then you need to prepare hard for the weaker section.
Aspirants scoring 100-135 need to buckle up their preparation, speed & time management.
Why 120-135 isn’t a good score anymore??
With exponentially increasing cut throat competition, and trend of higher cutoffs shows that to get an extra edge in Tier 1 you have to score 135+. Its seems to be difficult to score 135+ but in my point of view its achievable, you just need the perfect strategy.
SSC General Awareness section is unpredictable. Instead of mind GA is the game of 0 or 1, means if you know the answer you will mark it otherwise you will leave it. Moreover Weight-age of GA is of 25% i.e. of 50 Marks out of 200 but the syllabus isn’t confined as in other subjects.

  • No need to put extra effort on this section, there are scenarios where aspirants studied lots of books for this section and devoted too much time to prepare for GS but in the end the marks in this section wasn’t up to their expectations.
  • For GA you need to prepare the topics having limited matter. Some of the topics – Polity, Freedom Struggle, Indian Geography, Economics.
  • Try to mug up as much as possible but not at the cost of other subjects. Remember GK is the last preferred subject in my opinion due to less effort to result ratio.
  • Maximum time you need to devote on this section in Exam – 10 Minutes
SSC Reasoning is quite easy as compared to IBPS Reasoning. It is one of the scoring section among all sections. No need to go through a particular book to understand theory. To master the reasoning you need to practice 50 previous year questions daily. But remember solutions of these 50 questions must be there in the book you purchase. Some books with previous year reasoning question which you can buy .

Only some questions in Reasoning/General Intelligence are tricky like
  • Find the next number in series/Missing number in series
  • letter series
  • statement & conclusion
If you are unable to solve these questions in single try then leave them and move ahead.
Maximum time you can devote to reasoning is 30 Minutes including bubbling.
for reasoning try to maintain a consistent score above 42+
